For the past few years I’ve been an avid listener of the On Taking Pictures podcast. The hosts, artist and photographer Jeffery Saddoris and photographer Bill Wadman discussed the “art, science, and philosophy of photography”, with an occasional bit of tech and gear talk thrown in. The podcast ran hand-in-hand with their Google + group, where members could post photographs, ask for a critique of their work and submit photographs for the weekly assignment. Jeffery and Bill decided to end the podcast earlier this year, after racking up 325 podcasts over six years.
Luckily Jeffery is still creating his own podcasts, Iterations, which is a bite-sized piece of his creative insight and Process Driven, in which he talks to other creators about their work, their process and their inspiration.
I find Jeffery to have a thoughtful, almost meditative approach to his work, which, to me, is most refreshing in this age of instant gratification through ‘likes’ and ‘karma’ via social media. Iterations is also a great resource, with links to interesting features and interviews. What’s really great is that the podcasts are generally around the ten-minute mark so you can have a hearty dose of inspiration in the time it takes to have a cup of tea.
Do yourself a favour and have a listen here https://jefferysaddoris.com/iterations-podcast/ .
