I’ve just returned from a long weekend in Málaga, visiting a family member who moved there a year ago. I’ll admit to having a certain perception of Málaga despite never having been there before (think Union Jack flags, chips with everything and beer with breakfast. You know what I’m talking about). I’m not proud of this undeserved prejudice but I’m very happy to report that following an intensive tour around a variety of places of interest (not just bars, honest), my favourite of which was the 900-year-old Alcazaba, Málaga is one of my new very favourite places. How could I not love a city that has 300 days of sunshine per year, mountains, beaches and the best churros I’ve ever eaten? Málaga is the perfect city to use as a base whilst exploring Andalusia and as I’ve been invited to stay with family friends, it would be foolish of me not to accept, right?

Besides, I didn’t eat anywhere near enough jamón ibérico.
